My Proverbs Journal (Chapter 28)

IN JULY OF THIS 2020 YEAR, THE LORD GAVE ME A PROVERBS JOURNAL THAT ALLOWED ME TO READ A CHAPTER EACH DAY, AND THEN NOTE FROM THAT READING. BELOW WILL BE A LINK TO THE CHAPTER FOR EACH DAY, MY NOTES FOR THAT CHAPTER, AND SOME DAYS POETRY THAT HIS WORD INSPIRED ME TO WRITE AS WELL. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL AND STRENGTHENING JOURNEY.
THANKS GOD FOR THE MOMENTS! I LOVE YOU!

Proverbs, Chapter 28 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Good morning, God! I love You! The wicked run when no one is chasing them, but You make the righteous bold as a lion. Princes may use transgressions to gain a land, but a man of understanding and knowledge prolong the state of it.

The poor oppressing the poor is like a rain that leaves no food. Those who forsake Your law praise the wicked. I am to contend with him who keeps the law. Evil men don’t understand judgment, but seeking You brings understanding to all things.

Better is the poor walking in his uprightness than someone perverse in his ways, even a rich man.

A wise son keeps the law, but he that hangs with riotous  people shames his father. Usury and unjust gain is wrong, I need to give ear to Your law. Misleading the righteous will lead me unto my own pit. The upright shall have good things. A rich man is wise in his onw conceit. but the poor that has understanding will know Him better (will see through Him).

When righteous men rejoice, there is great glory, but people hide when the wicked rise. Whoever covers up his sin will not prosper. We need to confess and forsake them to have Your mercy. Happy is the one who fears You always because hardening our hearts can cause us to fall into mischief.

Wicked rulers over poor people are like roaring lions and raging bears. A prince that lacks understanding is a huge oppressor, but he that hates coveting makes his days last longer. A violent man guilty of someone’s blood will run to hide. No one is suppose to help him.

Help me to walk uprightly, Lord, so that I will be saved and not fall. Help me to do my part in whatever You ask of me and to trust You with my provisions. I want nothing to do with vanity. Help me to be faithful and abound with blessings. It is not good to have respect for persons, I may be willing to sin for food when hungry. I might compromise. Get rich quick schemes are not wise. They’re not realistic. Rebuking someone after will bring more favour than a flattering tongue.

Whoever robs his parents and thinks he’s innocent brings his own destruction. A proud heart stirreth up strife, but putting our trust in You, LORD, will makes us well nourished. He that gives to the poor won’t lack, but whoever hides his eyes will have many curses. When the wicked rise, men hide, but when the wicked perish, the righteous increase.

The chapter shows clearly how we can deceive ourselves into thinking we are innocent, that we are wise in our own eyes, and that we will have no consequences. We are so wrong! Only You can save us from ourselves. Save me, LORD! Save me! I love You!

My Proverbs Journal (Chapter 19)

I LOVE YOU!

Proverbs, Chapter 19 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Lord, You word is filled with instruction, warning, love, and so much more. So much of that instruction regards the tongue and the power it has. So much of our wisdom, knowledge, and understanding is wrapped up in the use of it (and the sometimes wisest understanding in NOT using it).

So when Your chapter 19 of Proverbs begins with “Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool (verse 1),” it is not a surprise to me, but rather a familiar friend with whom I can trust sound counsel, wise rebuke, and a loving warning. Tough love that seeks to preserve my soul, and my walk with the LORD as well. And so I love hearing from that familiar friend.

That familiar friend (which is Your instruction) tells me it is not good to be without knowledge, nor to be hasty, nor to pervert my way, nor fret against You, nor to make a false witness, nor speak lies.

You also give us strong illustrations of what it means to be poor, in that being without discretion, wisdom integrity, knowledge, understanding, and many things that are basically being without those things which You give are instruction. You give those things because of their value, their necessity, and their power to keep us from the evil that is to fall into, and to be misled by.

Our friends may not value those same instructions, but that in itself is a treasure, a guide to know who is a true friend, and to discern wise counsel from evil counsel, especially when Your word tells us how valuable counsel itself is.

Your commandment tells us to love our neighbor as we love ourselves, and verse 8 tells us we love our own soul when we get wisdom, and find good in keeping understanding. Our discretion defers our anger. It is glory to overlook a transgression. Favor is as dew on the grass (Your favor). A wise wife is from You. (I value this for my son.)

We are not to be slothful, nor idle. We are to keep the commandments, not despise them. In having pit on the poor, we are lending to You. We are to chasten our children so that in love we spare them from punishments that they could learn to avoid now. If we prevent them from learning the consequences of their actions, they will do those actions again and again, expecting us to suffer for them.

Help me to receive counsel, to hear instruction, and to help my son do the same. Help us to cling to the counsel that will stand… YOURS. Fear of You tends to life. Help us not to listen to counsel that causes us to err so that we will not face that judgment prepared for scorners, nor the stripes for the backs of fools. Help us to acknowledge You in all our ways, that we would have You directing our paths. We love You!

My Proverbs Journal (Chapter 7)

Proverbs, Chapter 7 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Lord, You tell me to call wisdom my sister, and understanding my kinswoman. You tell me she will keep me from the flattering of evil, and from the flattering of evil words.

That’s a powerful and true statement. Evil can appear flattering. Evil can sound flattering. When we do not flee the simple hint of that flattering, we can forfeit our souls, our bodies, and even our lives. Others can mock. but they are either smitten with that flattering themselves. or they are the face of flattery. Their voice is that deceptive flattery.

We need our sister wisdom, and our kinswoman understanding to reveal all flatteries. We need You to help us resist and stay strong. Help us to remember, to believe, and to obey wise understanding.

Your word in Proverbs 7 inspired 2 poems this time, Lord. The first one is called A Wise, Understanding Family because of Your urging to make wisdom and understanding family. The second one is called Walking Through Your Pages because I love walking through the pages of Your Holy word… but especially TOGETHER! Your Holy word with you is just… 😦

A Wise, Understanding Family

Wisdom, you are my sister.
God has said we’re family.
I am to trust Your words.
I am to trust Your whispers.
I am to heed Your shoutings.
I am to seek and trust You.

Understanding,
You are my kinswoman.
I am to follow your lead.
I am to trust you to keep me.
I am to accept you as family.
Because in God’s eyes
You are! ❤

Wise Understanding,
Oh how I need You,
to keep me from flattery,
to keep me from self-destruction,
to keep me from falling into a snare,
bound for hell.

Lord, I seek. I call on.
And I trust through Your faith
in wisdom, understanding.
We are all one family.
Your family.

Walking Through Your Pages

Walking through your pages, I see
Why God says to trust you and call you family.
You bring wisdom.
You bring knowledge.
You bring understanding.
You bring so much more than I could imagine.
How powerful is your influence.
How influential is your power.
You reveal, expose, and unveil
All that has evil intention against.
Flattery doesn’t get past you.
Help me to walk with you as often as God allows.
Help me to pay attention… and listen.
Help me to always trust what God gives you for me.
Help me to always trust your best for me.

My Proverbs Journal (Chapter 4)

I LOVE YOU!

Proverbs, Chapter 4 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Father, help me to hear Your instruction, and attend to know understanding. I know Your law and Your doctrine are good. You are tender and beloved. Help my heart to retain Your words and keep Your commandments. Help me to get wisdom, and understanding, and not to forget them. Help me to never decline Your words. I know You love me, preserve me, and keep me.

You tell me wisdom is the principal thing, and the understanding that comes with her. I am to exalt her, to embrace her, to receive her grace and her glory, and to allow her to deliver me.

All these things You used to teach me, lead me, and helped me to receive all that You wanted for me.
Verses 23-25 You used to teach me to guard my heart with diligence, to watch what I say, to put away perverseness, and to look evil, life, and people straight on. You taught me to look on each step I took.

How You established my steps, my life, my mind, and my heart in Your love and ways.

I will always be grateful for Your love and instruction in my life. I may be distracted with being human sometimes, but I am fully trusting in Your word, and Your promises.

They have been my wisdom, my knowledge, and my understanding. There’s nothing to compare. You and Your word are so invaluable to me. I treasure You both.

❤ I love You, Father!
❤ I love You, Holy Spirit!
❤ I love You, Sweet Jesus!

Your word in Proverbs 4 inspired this poem, Lord. It’s called Let’s Pursue One Another because You tell me to pursue wisdom. So it is my message to her! ❤

Let’s Pursue One Another

Wisdom, let’s pursue one another.
I need your instruction,
and you need my obedience.
I need your knowledge
and you need my heart.
I need your understanding,
and you need me to attend.
I need you to establish me,
and you need me to exalt you.
I need you to preserve me,
and you need me to keep you.
I need you to lead my paths.
You need to me to keep looking straight ahead.
I need your grace and glory,
you need me to honor God’s word.
His promises mean so much to me,
and you means so much to Him.
He tells me so much about you,
and promises so much value.
Help me to receive the good
in trusting His word.
Help me to honor Him
in trusting You.
Wisdom, Knowledge, Understanding,
Let’s pursue one another.

Day 2 of 47 for Lent Plan

GOD, I HAVE BEEN ENJOYING THE BIBLE READING PLAN YOU HAVE BEEN WALKING ME THROUGH. I’M SORRY TO BE SO LATE GETTING THEM ON, BUT WITH YOUR HELP WE’LL GET THEM ON LITTLE BY LITTLE.
NO RUSH. JUST CONVALESCING WITH YOU, AND FOLLOWING YOUR LEAD IN SHARING WITH OTHERS.
YOUVERSION (A BIBLE APP YOU HAVE BLESSED ME WITH)
IS DOING A PLAN CALLED LENT: REMEMBERING THE LIFE OF JESUS.

Day 2 of 47 for Lent Plan – “The Birth of Jesus”
Reading: Luke 1:26-45, Luke 2:1-20, and John 1:1-25 KJV

Further Study

  • Who told Mary that she would conceive and give birth to a Son?
    The angel Gabriel
  • What comforting words did he say to her?
    – Luke 1:30? “And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.”
  • What was Jesus called in John 1:1 and what do you think that means?
    – The Word
    – That He existed before the world began.

Reflect

  • Worship: Write down one attribute of God and worship Him for who He is.
    – Thoughtful and understanding.
  • Prayer: Pray for your immediate family members.
    – Anthoni, Bobby, Sandra, Nathan, Tim, Homey, David
  • Remembrance: Think about a time you were fearful, and reflect on how God comforted you.
    – younger times (fc, fwR/betrayed by friends)
God used Mom and Gran, and many times was simply there with me even if I didn’t know it.
  • Self-Examination: Are you generally someone who speaks life and praises God, or do you find that you complain and neglect praising God?
    – God, I’ve always tried to and always want to speak life in praising You, yet even You know how I have to admit (ashamedly) that I complain (unfortunately about life itself) and tend to be so distracted by woes and fears that neglect praising You, my Lord God, Ruler of the Universe, and Creator of my soul. You deserve every breath I have to lift Your Holy name, and endless glory and honor. I’m sorry, God. I do love You! Holy Spirit, help me to praise my God as He deserves, and help me fight the father of confusion (Satan) to keep me from distractions.

A Kind Act

Offer to help a new mom or single mom financially, physically, or spiritually.
– Alyssa (New Mom)
– Sue (Single Mom)

Emphasized Treasure

gaillovesgodspoetry

Lord, today You have emphasized treasure
That You are…
That You share…
That You hide…
That You openly display…
And that You so lovingly want for us.
Help me to see,
To find,
To enjoy,
To appreciate,
To thank You for,
To share,
And to treasure
You and ALL of Your treasures.
You tell us there is richness
In full assurance of understanding.
May I grow more and more
Every day in understanding
And wisdom and knowledge,
That I may know,
And know I know!
I love You, Lord!
