Dear Lord, how behind I am on blogging so many things You have blessed me with! Like the day back in August when You allowed me to go back to the Arboretum for a new walk. You allowed me to discover this place back in Walking the Walk, #4 Smell Walkand it immediately had became a favorite spot! I meant to blog about it to keep doing the challenge our Lovely A of Discovering Your Happinesshad created in her Walking the Walkingchallenge back in December of last year to do 50 walks.
I know You remember our lovely Anita who always signs…
Wherever you are in the world, have a lovely day ❤
So while You are giving me the chance, I want to thank You for allowing me to get that next walk in!
#5 Slow walk – Go as slowly as you can manage. Pay attention to your five senses as you walk to the end of of the block and back. Note what you’ve noticed for the first time.
Walking the Walk, # 5 Slow Walk was so beautiful even if it was so rainy and had a very challenging end. You were so worth it!
There were such beautiful flowers inside and out! This was a great surprise as You know last time it was winter brown. I called it an earthy wonderland, and was just as breathtaking then. But You certainly decorated my walk with a little color this time.
There was an awesome quilt pattern for a garden!
I would love to be a part of doing one! 🙂
I was blessed to come across this little fish swimming in a fountain.
Then more flowers to decorate my path.
Then there was the Fragrance Garden.. in a fountain! 🙂
These fountains have me thinking on your word: “For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.” – Psalm 36:9 KJV
The rain started picking up, so I went for shelter. As I stood under the roof, I noticed I was still getting wet. I looked up and saw wood beams, and a very cloudy sky… oh and a flag pole that was very wisely barren for this rain soaked day. I went for better shelter.
I passed by the gift shop… nice pillows.
Then look over down into the lobby.
I see signs for a Plant Sale.
After checking out their plants for sale in the green house, I head on out to the parking lot. I cannot find the car and the rain is pouring. While it’s not a huge parking lot, it is on a couple of big hills, and I know I strategically parked near landmarks to remind me where the car is. Because of my health, I am unable to run in this rain… I am actually struggling to walk up and down the hills of the parking lot… and after circling twice I am so weak I feel like I could fall at any second. I am lost and soon become so disoriented I don’t even remember where or who I am for a few seconds. I am broken and scared, and having inner conversations with You.
I walk up the hills one one more time, as I keep recognizing the landmarks I know You wisely had me thinking on. Standing where I know I left the car in the rain that has not let up for one moment, but instead has only gotten heavier, I am leaning on You more than ever, just as scared that I am… Losing It… altogether. And then RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES (LITERALLY)… I see I am standing RIGHT BESIDE IT!! I am so relieved, but as I get in the car wringing wet, I am horrified to think I could be getting worse.
You help me to think on the beautiful walk You have given me, along with the peaceful joy that You allowed me while walking on the beautiful journey with You this morning. It was a slow walk. It had to be with my health. But praise Your Holy name I can walk. You have allowed my doctors to help me do that much. You make me think on one of my favorite hymns of Yours…
Oh, Light of the World! How lovingly tender and personal You always are to me! In a world that gets so dark that my mind begs to go to sleep to escape, You faithfully send You whispers of love, and boldly shine Your Light of Love into my day. Brooke was one of those strong rays of Your shining Light when You allowed her to nominate me for the Light of the World Award. You already touch my soul with her motherly love for her precious little ones, her generous love in sharing with others, and her passionate love for You each time I visit her blog Noes to Knows. I loved reading You being so personal for Brooke on her journey from Labor to the Police Academy. Tonight, You allowed her to pass on a personal note to me from You in this nomination! A light still shines from the Light of the World into this blog You have given to me and You! And this will allow You to use me to shine Your Light to others.
Thank you, Brooke, for allowing God to use you to shine a little of His Light my way, and to those who will pass by as they read, or receive a nomination to keep sharing the Light through their blogs! ❤ Me and God love you!

Answering the 4 Questions:
What three words describe you best?
God’s, Christian, Writer
In what way(s) can a Christian shine for Christ?
In whatever way God asks, leads, or gifts… just to name a few. If it is allowing His light into their own life, and then pouring rays of light into the lives of others, then no one will be able to hide or mistake the glorious light shining from the Light of the World Himself! His love shines so brightly! It cannot be overshadowed!
What bible verse (quote it) talks about being a light in a dark and lost world?
“The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.” – Matthew 4:16 KJV
What Christian song do you know that has the word “light” in it? Provide a link if available.
A Light Still Shines was the first thing You brought to my mind as soon as I read those words Light of the World. You reminded me of when You used singing A Light Still Shines in a Christmas Cantata at church to get me through one of the most horrendous heartbreaks I have experienced. I cried every time we sang it! I praise Your Holy Name for Your music and Your people! I’ll always cherish the Light You shone into my darkness then, and that You shine into any darkness that appears! ❤
It is hard to find this song as a single. I will post the lyrics below the video.
A light still shines. It will always glow In the hearts and minds of the wise who know That a King has come and His life defines What His love has won. A light still shines.
Nominees:
Lovely A of Discovering Your Happiness is always trying to bring a ray of Your light into the lives of others. You led me to do her 21 Day Self Care Challenge at a time that my doctors and therapists were emphasizing self care needs in my own life. I use to blow that off as ungodly, thinking it was selfish and self centered. You opened my eyes and my mind to trust You in trusting the doctors You gave me. You not only used her to teach me how vital self care is to the vessel You gave me, but You blessed me with a dear friend for life… a sister in Christ… my Croatian-Australian Sister… Lovely Anita! ❤
Hayley of Red Letters has the loveliest voice that You have gifted her with. It beautifully compliments her love for sharing You with others. You led me to a song of hers that is still my favorite to this day… Know You.
I can sit and listen again and again (and I do)! Thank You for my Brummie Sister Hayley… my Brummie family! Our family loves being able to say hello to and pray for the whole family! Thank You for the gift she is to me! ❤
Lene (aka LeneinJapan) of Song of Virginity shines a light on celebrating and encouraging those choosing Christ first through abstinence, and she does it with a loving and nonjudgmental heart. I was delightfully surprised when You had her invite me to write my testimony on her God honoring blog. But I trusted prayed and trusted You as I did so with Love of My Life – I am His Song. I’ll always be grateful just as much for the friend You have given me in my American- Japanese Sister in Christ… beautiful Lene! She also has her other site… Wrestling with Faith – Dancing with Jesus. A place to find blessing and inspiration, and her testimony. ❤
Arnya of Walking With The Way is one of the dearest and passionate young ladies I know that You have introduced me to on WordPress. I constantly have to remind myself that she is just 14! The wisdom You give her through the Your Word as she shares it faithfully shines through each post. Just recently I was encouraged by her post A Verse for Anyone Struggling. It was Your encouragement for someone with anxiety… like me! 🙂 Thank You for my young sister in Christ… sweet Arnya! I am so grateful You make us family! ❤
Margaret of The Word shines a light on Your Word every day! She literally posts verses from Your Bible all the time! What better way to share You than to share the very Words You lived and left us! She also shares some poetry like Is It? and loves sharing Your encouragement with as many as You will allow her. She emphasizes to others the benefits of reading Your Word for themselves because she wants everyone to know that pure joy personally. Thank You so much for my sister in Christ… dearest Margaret! ❤
Karen (aka KJ Smith) of A Couple of Stars and a Happy Face shines Your love through a smile each day for those You allow her to be seen by on her blog. Her recent post He Restores My Soul touches on one of my favorite passages to think on… Psalm 23… because that particular thought alone makes me dreamy and lost with joy in You! You make me to lie down in green pastures…. *sigh*… beside those still waters *sigh*… where You restore my soul… *SIGH*! Oh I so need that place to be lost in… so often! I love You for putting that in Your Word! And in my heart! ❤ Thank you for putting my smiling Sister in Christ… Happy Face Karen… in my life! ❤
Shae of Teen, Meet God is another young lady who You have blessed me in knowing who is constantly shining Your light through verses, music, notes from her Sundays in church, and the beautiful thing You are doing with her through the gift of dance! Her recent post Stories of the Bible – Manoah’s Wife especially touched me as Manoah’s Wife was also given a son by You and a personal one on one message on how to raise Him just as You allowed me the same gift in my son! What a light You shed on our way! Thank You for my dancing Sister in Christ from Illinois… bright Shae! ❤
Also nominated are so many others who simply love to shine Your light to others! Whether boldly or softly, PLEASE make them feel encouraged enough to accept and to keep sharing the nomination with others! I went to the beginning of the list under Followers and used the first seven names You gave me!
Congrats to all of the nominees! Me and God love you!
Thank You, Light of the World, for shining Your personal light into my life, into this blog, and into every place You allow me to receive it and give it! May this blog always be Yours, and continue to shine YOU! 🙂
❤ I love You! ❤
“Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.”
– James 4:13-15 KJV

Would I Rather??? ❤ I’d rather have Jesus than anything this world affords today! ❤
Now, Lord, You know I couldn’t see that kind of question and not think of Your great hymn I’d Rather Have Jesus. ❤
And You know how much I love Your dear Son! ❤
Yet here You have allowed Lovely Anita of Discovering Your Happiness to create another new tag… The “Would You Rather” Tag… to quote her, “as a BOREDOM BUSTER!”The ‘Would You Rather’ Tag gives you two options to choose from
– it’s funny to see what people will choose.
Would you rather have all dogs try to attack you when they see you or all birds try to attack you when they see you?
neither one thank you
Would you rather be unable to move your body every time it rains or not be able to stop moving while the sun is out?
unfortunately I know both the feeling of not being able to move my body and the feeling of being restless, but at least being restless with the sun out I would mean I could be active with a lifetime of living to do 🙂 making for a sweet peaceful rest. “The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.” – Ecclesiastes 5:12 KJV
Would you rather spend the rest of your life with a sailboat as your home or an RV as your home?
RV for me! Keep me on solid ground please! 🙂 “And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” – Matthew 7:26-27 KJV
Would you rather walk around work or school for the whole day without realizing there is a giant brown stain on the back of your pants or realize the deadline for that important paper / project was yesterday and you are nowhere near done?
I’ve met many a deadline as an Editor and a student. I love a challenge!
Would you rather eat a sandwich made from 4 ingredients in your fridge chosen at random or eat a sandwich made by a group of your friends from 4 ingredients in your fridge?
I would rather control what I eat! I want to know what I am eating!
Would you rather have plants grow at 10 times their normal rate when you are near or for people and animals to stop aging when you are near them?
The more people who know that Jesus went away to prepare a place for them, the more people there will be to stop aging… someday 😉 “Never grow old, never grow old, In a land where well never grow old Never grow old, never grow old, In a land where well never grow old.” – Never Grow Old, lyrics by James C. Moore
Would you rather have chapped lips that never heal or a terrible dandruff that can’t be treated?

Would you rather have out of control body hair or out of control body odor?

And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.”

– Rock of Ages, classic hymn

my body hates both, but never sweat again
Would you rather never have to clean a bathroom again or never have to do dishes again?
No dishes! We use all paper products already, and that would be one nasty bathroom!

Stay home. There’s a difference between traveling and constantly having to move. We moved over 20 times when I was growing up.

I’ll keep everything the good Lord gave me thanks! 🙂

I want to fly! ❤
Would you rather find five dollars on the ground or all of your missing socks?

I’ve watched too many people go to jail for someone who never changed, nor gave one ounce of care about the one who took the fall for them.
I’ve also seen people continue to get away with hurting others because none of their victims not being able to say anything or those aware of their guilt not speaking up.

All my possessions
Would you rather never have to work again or never have to sleep again (you won’t feel tired or suffer negative health effects)?
It is so tempting to say No Sleep! Boy, I could just live life to the fullest. But I am reminded of the Breathe Bible Study the Lord allowed me to do. Breathe: Making Room for the Sabbath by Priscilla Shirer reminds that God created the sabbath for a purpose… not just for our health, but to allow to enter into that beautiful thing called… REST. Oh how wonderful the feeling of kicking up one’s feet and remember to Be still and know that He is God! ❤ Such sweet fellowship! ❤ He promises His people rest for a reason!

both are so valuable
Would you rather give up bathing for a month or give up the internet for a month?

my lack of trust in others says read minds, but to be able to transport away from danger is much more helpful

Work obediently and faithfully for my Lord

OH how fabulously wonderful You are, Lord. Absolutely fabulous! In who You are! In where You are! In how You are! I am so blessed to have met You here in this new favorite place You have given me. You have been whispering this place to me for quite some time, and I have tried to research as much as possible on how to meet You here. Yet today, You have spoken clearly, and delightfully surprised me!
It’s known for its gardens, but this is winter, so it was “barren” of the flowers everyone brags about. Yet I feel like it’s an earthy wonderland! It’s so beautifully designed. A beautiful use of concrete and earth in perfect blend… if there can be such a thing. It’s outdoors and yet so clean! Pristine! You are beautiful… wonderful… in Your time… in Your place! ❤ I go inside.
You first catch my attention with heritage… and have me think.
What is an important tradition in my family or community?
The only thing that comes to mind are family dinners we use to have at my grandmother’s house. My mom’s family use to have holiday dinners there. There was no certain time of day. Aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren and several family friends would come and go throughout the day. When my grandmother passed in February of 2000, we no longer saw each other much, unless it was a funeral.
What have I learned by being a part of it?
Family can be so precious… even dysfunctional families. Enjoy the time while you can. It won’t last. It makes me think of one of my favorite gospel songs every time I lose someone I love…. I’ve Got More to Go to Heaven For (Than I Did Yesterday).
I’VE GOT MORE TO GO TO HEAVEN FOR I’ve been on my way to Heaven… For a long, long time. And many things have happened… That clouded up my mind. But I am more determined… To walk the narrow way For I’ve got more to go to Heaven for… Than I had yesterday.
CHORUS: There’s a golden street to walk upon… A bell I’m gonna ring, A brand-new angel in the choir… I wanna hear her sing. There’ll be a lot of friends a-waiting… When I walk through the gate I’ve got more to go to Heaven for… Than I had yesterday.
I’ve been through lonesome valleys… I’ve climbed the highest hill, I’ve known the joy of living… In the center of God’s will. I’ve watched the angels come and take… My loved ones home to stay I’ve got more to go to Heaven for… Than I had yesterday.
You continue to have me think on family tradition.
Banana Pudding was our family tradition…
for every holiday… sometimes every meal.
Banana Pudding and Sweet Tea! ❤ “O taste and see that the Lord is good:
blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” – Psalm 34:8 KJV
Now You turn my focus to water… Your gift to life.
Seeing this makes me think of the struggle I have with dehydration, and this makes for a great motivator and reminder! It also reminds me of when I was doing Lovely A’s 21 Day Self Care Challenge on her Discovering Your Happiness website. My response was noted on Self Care Challenge Day 8: Water. I actually took the picture thinking of her! ❤
Chewing Gum comes from a tree! Wow! I did not know that! 🙂
I love corn, beans, and squash! A tasty dinner to me, Lord! 🙂
After hearing some Native Americans narrate different nature topics and traditional stories, I venture outside. I have no pictures. I started just enjoying things when I sat down for the stories. I’m walking where there are normally gardens and flowers, so says the guy when I came in and every touring person that passes me. Yet I am not the least bit disappointed. Perhaps because I have not come to see them. I have come to see You!
Again the place just seems like the most tenderly fabulous earthy wonderland! I find one of the many beautifully designed areas to sit in, and just take You in. The sun is so bright and beautiful on this winter day, and the wind just does what it wants with my hair. But it’s OK. It’s comforting… because it’s You… being playful… being tender… being loving… being personal… being You! This place reminds me of places people have introduced to me in the past. For some reason I start thinking of those special faces.
Counselors, teachers, friends who have taken moments out to sit and talk with me… knowing that I am claustrophobic… and very uncomfortable with talking inside closed walls… while a clock ticks… reminding of how unimportant my words are, so make it quick for the one who is listening. But not here. Outside in a warm sun… with no clock hovering over me. It makes me miss them so. I have so much I wish I could talk to them about. They broke protocols and rules to go out of their way to help save me from things in my life when I did not know I needed saving from anything. My heart aches for them. I miss them as much as I miss family… even if some them were dysfunctional as well. How human we all are. Yet we are Your humans! Thank You, Lord, for going out of Your way today to meet me here. I will be back!
As I start to walk away from this area, a smell permeates my air. And I can smell how beautiful it is! So pleasant! So comforting! There’s just something about it that smells like… You! I see nothing but barrenness until suddenly I see a sign that says Lily of the Valley! *GASP* Oh dear Lord! My favorite song! My grandmother’s favorite flower, and a name sweetly referenced to You!
Lily of the Valley – hymn lyrics by Charles W. Fry I have found a friend in Jesus, He’s everything to me, He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul; The Lily of the Valley, in Him alone I see All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole. In sorrow He’s my comfort, in trouble He’s my stay; He tells me every care on Him to roll.
CHORUS: He’s the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star, He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.
He all my grief has taken, and all my sorrows borne; In temptation He’s my strong and mighty tow’r; I have all for Him forsaken, and all my idols torn From my heart and now He keeps me by His pow’r. Though all the world forsake me, and Satan tempt me sore, Through Jesus I shall safely reach the goal. [CHORUS]
He will never, never leave me, nor yet forsake me here, While I live by faith and do His blessed will; A wall of fire about me, I’ve nothing now to fear, From His manna He my hungry soul shall fill. Then sweeping up to glory to see His blessed face, Where rivers of delight shall ever roll. [CHORUS]
It’s not visible, but I can smell despite the darkened earth. Praise Your name I can smell! I have been trying to do the Smell Walk, #3 of the 50 Walks within the Walking the Walk Challenge with Lovely A of Discovering Your Happiness, but have just not been able to smell! I had done Walking the Walk, #3 Delight Walk in its place. But I smelled that lovely Lily of the Valley! ❤ And this was before I had the occipital nerve block last week, of which I felt it opening my sinus within minutes.
As I continue to walk, I smell another familiar aroma… Spruce… everywhere! It smells so good! And just as I think of touching out of curiosity, You remind me of my allergies and sensitivities. I’ll never forget Scratch and Sniff 203! That was my Botany class. In lab exercises we walked the college campus scratching and sniffing twigs, flowers, branches (that we were warned not to touch because of chemicals to protect them). I had the worst allergic reaction I have had involving a fever. A high fever that did not break until the 9th day of a 10 day antibiotic course. No more Scratch and Sniff, Professors! 😉
All of this beautiful smell within a seemingly lifeless foliage makes me think on how filthy I must have looked to You underneath all of my sin when my soul laid beneath the dead and broken leaves, the barren dark branches, and this uninviting view. Yet You saw beauty in me. You saw You in me! Again I think of my counselors and teachers You used to save me, to clean and toil the surface, to dig out the roots and choking weeds, to rid me of that one dark blot…. multiplied by a thousand. Thank You for coming for me! Thank You for the souls You blessed me with. Help me to thankful for those I still have!
One last sign on the way out… is a Fabulous answer to prayer!
I continue to walk around and then find this sign telling me of several small trails! Could this be answer to prayer, and a guide for the 50 Walks in the Walking the Walk Challenge! Absolutely! Thank You for this day! For this intoxicating scent! For these fond memories of people I miss so much! Thank You for just being You! As Always! ❤

My Dearest Lord, how incredibly awe-inspiring You are! How lovingly You pursue me! So faithfully woo me! You amaze my heart every single day! And night! Every safe and troublesome night! Just last night we had some very dangerous weather come in, leaving some very slick roads. Yet Anthoni had to get on those roads to get to work. I knew he had 4 Wheel drive, but after the fog storm that iced over the entire western part of our state so unexpectedly, not even showing up on radar as it kept adding layers of black ice, in broad daylight, leaving thousands stranded, and hundreds of accidents everywhere.
One of those accidents involving 2 jackknifed tractor trailers left my brother, brother-in-law, and family friend stranded on the Interstate for 7 hours. Even after they got off safely, the car had idled so long on the ice that when they stopped for gas, the car would not come out of park, and had to be towed home. Records were created or broken over that mysterious foggy ice storm (mysterious to us 😉 ) just a week or so before. And so I wanted to see Anthoni off on this night, encourage him, ask him to text when there safely, and just let him know I love him. But that was not how things happened.
My meds were making it hard to even open my eyes for more than a second, a very brief and blurry second. My brain struggled to gain consciousness. As Anthoni was letting me know he was leaving, I was trying hard to awaken, but all I could get out was, “I’m sorry I can’t seem to wake up, Anthoni. I do love you. Please be safe. Let me know you made it when you do.” And I did not get that out all at the same time. I couldn’t stay awake to make sure he heard me, or understand what he said when I could tell he was trying to talk to me, and seemed frustrated that I couldn’t stay awake enough to hear him.
As he started warming up the car, I began to pray to You. “Lord, please help me. Please be with my son. I’m sorry I can’t seem to stay awake even enough to pray. Please keep him safe. Help him get to work safely. Help him not to forget to let me know he did.” Again, I didn’t get this out all at one time, and I didn’t “vocalize” any of it. At one point all I could say was, “I love You, Lord. I love you.” And kept repeating it any time I had consciousness. I made the decision to trust You, to know You wouldn’t punish me, or take it out on Anthoni, just because I couldn’t stay awake. The night was holding on to me, but that’s not the kind of God You are. You are our most loving and protective Father who loves when we trust You. It’s what You desire most from us. So that’s what I did. I counted on You. And got those few words out any time my brain would allow, while making the decision to stop fighting so hard to think, but instead trust You and go onto sleep. And just before I was falling off to sleep I heard those words.
“You are good, good, oh. You are good, good, oh.
You are good, good, good, good.”
Even as I heard them, they touched my heart in such a way. You were comforting me, assuring me, that You were good and loving. You were tenderly letting me know You well understood about my meds and my concern for my son. You were a doting parent caressing my forehead as You were singing me off to sleep. When I awakened, I immediately smiled. I remembered how tender and wonderful You had been to me. And there was a text from Anthoni. That song kept coming to mind all day long. Something told me I knew the song, yet I couldn’t figure how. Good, Good Father by Christ Tomlin was close, but I knew it wasn’t what You sang me to sleep with. So I went to my YouTube playlists.
I didn’t really know what title to look for because as much as I felt I knew the song, I also had a certainty that I didn’t know it well and would have to figure it out. So I asked You to help me find it. A song titled King of my Heart by Kutless kept coming up, but I would say, “Oh that can’t be it, Lord. I don’t know that song. I know it’s in my playlist, but that’s just because our church sang it a few times during the year so I saved it to be familiar with it. It never really did anything for me. I mean, I know the message was good and godly, and I know friends on WordPress introduced it to me as well, but it just never stayed with me. I don’t even know the words.” So I Googled what I did know… the words You played in my mind as I decided to trust You… to fall asleep and let go of the night.
“You are good, good, oh. You are good, good, oh.
You are good, good, good, good.”
Again! King of My Heart by Kutless came up! So I played it, and listened… and *GASP*!!! It was it! EVERY SINGLE WORD just touched my heart! So many things that You and I personally talk about… were in those words! Here I had trusted You, but You were comforting me! In every single word!
Let the King of my heart Be the mountain where I run
So often I struggle with getting that walk on that beautiful Blue Ridge mountain… walking the Parkway bridge. I wish so badly that I could run that mountain like so may of my friends… Joe and his girlfriend Joy, Tina… or cycle it like my friends Tony and his friends, a few of my doctor friends, Jonathan… or at least walk the trails like my dearest Cousin Kimberly (who was the first woman to YOYO the Mountains to Sea Trail in 2016 and will hike The Pacific Crest Trail in March of this year…. Shout out to “Legs!”!! 🙂 ). Kimberly was the one who the Lord used to inspire me to walk on the Parkway. Yet as I wrote in Walking the Walk Challenge, #1 Color Walk and Walking the Walk Challenge, #2 Texture Walk for Lovely A’s Walking the Walk Challenge, I often end up here in this bed, and have to do that walk with You right here. You help me find joy in “letting the King of my heart be the mountain where I run.” That’s right! With You… I can run! On any mountain! On any bridge! Anywhere! ❤
The fountain I drink from
I struggle too with getting hydrated enough. It’s affecting my health in so many ways, as I have noted in Self Care Challenge Day 8: Water when I was doing Lovely A’s 21 Day Self Care Challenge. So as I hear this line, I am encouraged to “let the King of my heart be the fountain I drink from.” 🙂 “O tasteandsee that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” – Psalm 34:8 KJV
Oh, He is my song
OH, does this ever make my day! The testimony that You finally helped me to get down when Lene invited me to write on Song of Virginity was titled The Love of My Life – I am His Song, so immediately this came to mind with an overflowing emotion that You would give me those words… He is my song! I am Your song, and You are mine! Your banner over me is Love! How loved I am!! ❤
Let the King of my heart Be the shadow where I hide
How often I close my eyes to escape the world and its unpleasantness. How I run to You for shelter… seeking a place to hide. “Let the King of my heart be the shadow where I hide” reminds of the tender hymn You taught me years ago during storms of the Tornado Outbreak Season of 2011 that I could not hide from but found shelter in You… and every word of He Hideth My Soul! ❤
The ransom for my life
You remind me of the cost You have paid for my life. Yet instead of conviction, it is assurance that though I sometimes long for Home so much that it is all I can think about, You remind me of things You have brought me through, and things that vie for my life and soul, but You… the One who gave me my life.. is the King who paid “the ransom for my life…” because You love me! ❤ You have rescued me… for Yourself! ❤
Let the King of my heart Be the wind inside my sails
You know, dear Lord, how much I yearn to fly! I want to just soar through the air… enjoying Your majestic beauty… feeling the breath of Your wind in my hair… and supporting my lifeless body. “Let the King of my heart be the wind beneath my sails.” ❤ Let’s fly, Lord! Let’s sail! ❤
The anchor in the waves
Again, I think of those terrible storms, and the rocky waves of this world. Yet You whisper in those words that You are “the anchor in the waves.” ❤
Let the King of my heart Be the fire inside my veins
As I have learned the Lymphedema that I was diagnosed with is a breakdown of my veins from the pressure of the fluid, these words definitely feel like an anthem… a cry… a determination to “let the King of my heart be the fire inside my veins.” You make me grateful all over again for the therapists. They were definitely The Gift of the Year 2017: Therapy… and are still very much a gift from You! ❤
The echo of my days
When I question… Has there been a point to my life? Have I given You a testimony? Do I let You down? Or give You a reason to smile? You remind me my life is not about my whiny little self. It’s all about You! As it should be! Again, another anthem to gladly state and pray that You would be “the echo of my days.” Let them see You! ❤
You’re never gonna let Never gonna let me down
Whether it’s trusting You with my son, or that You won’t punish me because I cannot fight my medicines or the sleep they induce, or not be able to give You the respect You deserve to sit up or address You reverently when praying, or pray on any of the above mentioned issues… “You’re never gonna let, never gonna let me down!” And yes… that was worth repeating! That’s how much I believe it! Here I was worried about letting You down, and yet it’s just like Your great love to be tender and caring to me! ❤
When the night is holding on to me God is holding on
Last night really tried to steal my peace of mind. It certainly fought for my consciousness, as much as it wouldn’t let it rest either. Yet as I chose to trust in You, to trust in the words I could pray to You, as well as the ones I couldn’t even vocalize to You, You heard every word… including how much I love You. You remind me that as I chose to trust You and started to close my eyes for the night, regardless of the fear of letting You down, You remind me of how thoughtful You were to comfort me, but this time the words are, “When the night is holding on to me, God is holding on.”
You are good, good, oh You are good, good, oh Yes, You are good, good, oh You are good, good, oh
No wonder my soul was in love with those words. “You are good, good, oh. You are good, good, oh. Yes, You are good, good, oh. You are good, good, oh.” No wonder my soul was in love with You… the King of my heart! How wonderfully good You are to me! I love it when You give me a song or a word like this in my sleep! When only You have access to me! Thank You for letting me know You were there… that You were listening… that You were moved by my trust in You. Thank You for just being You! You ARE good! ❤
Dear Lord, How lovingly kind You continue to be to me… to this blog You thoughtfully allowed me! Here I pour out my love to You, as much as possible, as I would anywhere You will allow… yet You shine Your light of love all over. Thank You for allowing Lovely A to continuously be that ray of sunshine You send my way, by nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Thank You for the never ending ray of Light that Your Son shines in my life! ❤ Thank you for all the ways You shine Your light! ❤Lovely Anita, Thank you for the nomination of this Sunshine Blogger Award. He’s been there all along, and He’ll never leave you! He loves you! ❤ And so do I! ❤
If you don’t mind I want to share this in memory of another ray of God’s sunshine.
Willie S. was a very godly man whom God used in the life of many. My son and I met him as my son’s principal at his Christian School, which was also a part of the church we attended. Through the years, we were blessed to become friends with him, his beautiful wife, and his loving daughters. He passed away the day before I was nominated for this award. That day had a lot of challenges in it, but I was finding God’s rays of sunshine all over the place (and I am going to nominate those rays). It was not until later when I got to the computer… to finally catch a breath from that day… to accept the award and nominate others… that I read the sad news. I took a long pause and prayed it wasn’t so. But it was. I’m surprised in some ways that it meant so much… to have to take a couple of hours to even move from where I was. I thought about his dear family, and how invaluable they have each been… to me… my son… my family… our friends… and so many. How hard and faithful my stepdad and I (along with family quite often) had been praying for him. We were so hopeful. But our loss is his gain, as I posted in The Loss and Gain of a Godly Man. They each have shone a strong ray of God’s light into our lives. So may the Lord allow this to be a candle for Willie S. and his family.Ψ

Lord, This is how our walk was today. I was going to do walk number #3 Smell Walk, but I was absolutely distracted and excited by the beautiful ice all over the place! I thought about scents at different times, but honestly could not smell anything. But oh I was taken by Your delightful sights. So since #4 is Delight Walk,
Delight walk- Look out for things that delight or tickle you. You may use these as destination points for future walks. You might share these with others to enjoy, via social media.
I have swapped them for now to share the delightful pictures You allowed me to get. So this will be Walking the Walk, #3 Delight Walk. Only 47 more to go 🙂
You even allowed a couple of quick videos, which I’ll post at the end of this post.
Thank you! It was such a delight spending time in Your wonders! 🙂
“Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?” – Job 38:29 KJV
“He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.” Psalm 147:16 KJV
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. – Isaiah 55:10
“The earth will soon dissolve like snow, the sun forebear to shine, But God, who called me hear below,
Will be forever mine.” Amazing Grace – hymn lyrics by John Newton
For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength. – Job 37:6 KJV
“His countenance was like lightning,
and his raiment white as snow.”
– Matthew 28:4 KJV
“His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire.” – Revelation 1:14 KJV
“By the breath of God frost is given:
and the breadth of the waters is straitened.” – Job 37:10 KJV
Thank You for such a wonderful day with You, Oh Lord. You are magnificent! ❤ I love You! ❤
“and thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it,
when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.” – Isaiah 30:21 KJV
Ok, Lord. It’s time to begin our new journey of walking through this new year. You had me to choose this path that You allowed Lovely A of Discovering Your Happiness to create in her post Walking the Walk. As she says, “Walking is such a great thing for the mind but I also think walking for a purpose is a good idea.” And that’s exactly what this walk is all about… an intentional walk following You wherever You lead for the purpose of growing closer to You every step of the way, knowing that in each step You have a purpose for me in that particular walk. I am eager to join You in each walk.
There are 50 different walks to look forward to enjoying with You. The first one Colour Walk has me using a camera to capture some colors and making a photo collage. I have been mindful of this, but with the frigid temps and the problems that I mentioned in “NEW” Series #1, Introduction, the best that I could do was this photo hanging on the wall at lymphedema therapy.
My Alcatel smartphone camera did not do a good job of holding the rich colors, but I will have to learn to make it work, or know why it will not. This will have to do until You allow me that walk where You have rich colors waiting on me, Lovely A, and all those who will witness the walk with us, as they journey alongside.
As You assign and provide each walk… I will walk, photograph, note, color, or whatever is on the list, and will be sure to blog about it along our Walking the Walk journey. Thank You for giving me yet another special way to spend time with Lovely Anita, and Lord willing, encourage her in her own walk with You. I know You love her so much! Thank You for using her 21 Days Self Care Challenge last year to teach me, encourage me, motivate me, and help me to really be more mindful of this temple You have given me. Bless her Lord for every time You used her. ❤
“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: that thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.” – Deuteronomy 30:19-20 KJV
This is the verse you have given me, Lord, for this year ahead. Weeks ago I began asking if there was anything you wanted me to focus on, making sure to be careful not to make promises I cannot keep or that you were not asking of me. You lovingly taught me the value of not making resolutions, and the peace of following you instead of the world the first year you led me not to make one, and not to let the world make me feeling guilty.
You brought to mind things that happened through the year, and how this battle for my health was following your instruction to fight! At least you would know I was trying to do all you asked of me. Even if I lost the fight… I would go down obeying. Now you are saying CHOOSE LIFE. You used Caralyn’s broadcast to confirm it with Deuteronomy 30:19, and explained why with verse 20.
Choose Life… not just to live… but to love you… to obey you… to cleave to you… because YOU are my life… and the length of my days.
So…. by your grace… in your strength… according to your will… I will choose to live…
to love… to obey… to cleave… to my life… which is all you!
Some things you have encouraged me to use as a source of strength and Motivation are:
Writing down the bible word for word as you lead.
(I was so motivated I already began in December.)
None of these are in specific order. And there may be some I have forgotten, or that you will add along the way. But whatever the journey has ahead you have assured me…
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” – Psalm 32:8 KJV
