One Lovely Blog Award 10.24.17

“His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether LOVELY. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.” – Song of Solomon 5:16 KJV

How absolutely LOVELY You are, Dear Lord, My Jesus, LOVELY of LOVELIES! You have given me so many LOVELY BLESSINGS! Starting with my LOVELY Australian sister Anita of Discovering Your Happiness! LOVELY Anita. LOVELY A. Miss LOVELY! She is always so thoughtful of others, taking such care and time to research and share. And she always makes sure to tell everyone,

“Wherever you are in the world, have a LOVELY day! ❤ “rgnkh1lNow You have had her touch my heart by nominating me with the One LOVELY Blog Award, as well as allowing me to read her LOVELY answers in her acceptance post. As soon as I see the word, how could I not think of Miss LOVELY A and LOVELY Australia! How could I not think of the LOVLIEST of all that is LOVELY… YOU!
I know LOVELY A would not be the least bit offended! She loves you too! She too knows that You make the LOVELY in her possible, and the LOVE in Gail Loves God. So this post will be a bit long while I Love on You! You have opened the treasure box of my heart, and Your Love is pouring all over the place. May it flow wherever You want it, and touch whom You will touch. Thank You for being Love! And for sharing it with me through Lovely Anita!

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are LOVELY, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” – Philippians 4:8 KJV

My 7 Things About Myself are my current favorite songs.

1. As You know I have been struggling at times with my anxiety, sometimes my depression, and quite often the frustration of physical challenges. This song Even If by MercyMe has ministered to me day & night since You introduced me through a friend.

2. The first song ended with a reference to the hymn It Is Well With My Soul. Everyone should hear a hymn every once in a while… sung to the tune the Lord gave it… and with a choir/congregation. At least once… sing the whole song! This motivates my soul! It Is Well With My Soul by Sovereign Grace Music.

3. Ohhh. *Gasp, and silently waiting for a breath to return!* Dear Lord. How do I find words for what You allow this song to do for my soul? If You had not come! Where would I be? ❤ Love Came For Me by Northland Church. Thank You for coming for me! ❤

4. Joy! LOVELY Lord! This song absolutely lifts me, motivates me, and makes it feel impossible to quit smiling and clapping, tapping my feet. Joy, Lord! Unashamed Joy! Oh the joy of a choir/congregation! And this one! I Love the leading voice! You hear and feel the pure joy! Leaning On The Everlasting Arms by The Church of God.

5. How could I not hear the word LOVELY and not think of Here I Am to Worship by Worship? It sings the very words “You’re altogether LOVELY, altogether worthy, altogether wonderful to me.”

6. Oh by the way, Lord. When it comes to Your precious Son Jesus Christ, did I mention that I Love Him? How I worship and adore Him? When I can’t see no way, He makes a way. And did I mention He’s been faithful to every promise He’s ever made me. I Love Him. That’s all I want to say. I praise you for Did I Mention by The Rochesters!

7. Lastly is my all time favorite video. I wish I could fly along with the camera… and You! I like to pretend I can. It’s such a beautiful collection of scenery… Your creative artwork comforts my soul! How Great is Our God by Chris Tomlin.

Hand in Hand With You

You’re leading. I’m following,
or at least I’m trying.
You’re speaking. I’m listening,
or at least sighing.
Your pathways can be many,
yet one at a time.
Your lamp is shining.
Help me follow the light.
You’re teaching. I’m learning,
or trying to be discerning.
You’re guiding. I’m trailing
while trying to avoid failing.
Stay close by with guard rails.
Your perfect love never fails.
Hand in hand with You,
I know we’ll make it through.

The Fall Tag 10.16.17

How absolutely delightful and different, Lord! The Fall Tag is a tag of community friendship to celebrate the wonders of your creation and artwork! Fall (Autumn) is so beautiful! Thank you, Lord, for allowing Princess Blabbermouth to tag me. Bless her, Lord, and her blog. Thank you for allowing me to have her site to go to. I love her posts, the pictures, the food, and the lovely personality you can read within.thefalltagThank you, Princess Blabbermouth, for the tag. The Fall Tag is a great way to celebrate His wonders decorated all throughout the season. God loves you!

Rules:
Put the tag badge and rules in your post.
Answer the 10 fall-related questions.
Tag at least 5 other bloggers to join in the fun!

1. What’s your favorite fall outfit? Comfort clothes… sweats, socks, pajamas, scarves, flannels, men’s oversized long sleeved shirts with a little Obsession on the sleeve and cuff .

2. What is fall weather like where you live? Beautiful, breezy, leaves and color everywhere. I love the wind playing with my hair.

3. Your favorite drink to have in the fall? hot chocolate

4. Does your family have any fall traditions? Not anymore. When we were a larger family, we use to clean leaves for my grandmother and her neighbors, and as adults we use to work a famous haunted house for a charity fundraiser.

5. What are some activities and events you enjoy going to in the fall months? I have not been to one in a while, but a church or school fall festival is fun.

6. What’s your favorite fall-scented candle? I don’t know if it’s a fall scent, but I like lavender. I’m not really a candle person since I have allergies and sensitivities, and I am highly uncomfortable with burning flames sitting around the house. Maybe one at dinner?

7. Tell us about one of your favorite fall memories. Raking leaves for my grandmother, and jumping in the piles…. just laying them.

8. What are some fall movies you enjoy watching? A Thanksgiving to Remember

9. What’s your favorite fall treat? I used to love caramel and fudged candied apples sprinkled with nuts. Not had one in a good while. Or a warm funnel cake. I know everyone likes pumpkin and yams, not me.

10. If you celebrated Halloween, what’s the best costume you’ve worn? Dressing as our local D.J. Rick Hampton. Of all the costumes, everyone figured mine out the easiest, with just a few exceptions of mistaking me for Jerry Garcia of the Grateful dead (to give you an idea of what he looked like)… meaning I achieved my goal. He loved it too. He happened to be a good friend of mine.

Happy tagging and have a joyful Autumn (Fall) season while it lasts. I love how these days are not too hot, nor too cold. I love the windows down and the doors open. Cozy fires and a movie night. Or just lazy evenings on the porch to enjoy the lovely display of God’s wonders. And of course, preparing for winter.

My Love Will Never End

God touched a little girl broken and abandoned
and said, “I’ll be your friend.”
He drew her into His arms and loved her,
and promised He would to the end.
As she grew, she lived on His word,
never able to forget.
Whenever she made a mistake that hurt Him,
she would soon regret.
Tormented by guilt and shame of her choices,
she grew away more each day.
Her Lord came in patient mercy and asked,
“Why do you push me away?”
With tear filled eyes, she looked into His
and simply replied,
“You said you would love me to the end,
but one day I will die.”
With concern He looked at her and reassured,
“But that will keep us together.”
“Yes,” she said, “If I had no sin in my life.
But only Heaven and Hell are forever.
You said you would love me to the end
and that I have believed.
But I am filled with sorrow to know
at my death You must leave.”
Touched by the misunderstanding
of the heart He knew He could mend,
God lovingly responded, “Then let me rephrase that,
my love for you will never end.”

6. Share a good Samaritan experience you’ve undergone?
Years back walking home from bankruptcy court several miles in heels, I stopped half way at Taco Bell to rest. A stranger who knew me offered a ride home. Turned out our kids were in school together. Liebster Award 10.3.17

liebster-award

Well here God goes again!! Just continuing the shower of blessings… through another new friend! Little Miss Bear Paw of Family by Faith has nominated me for the Liebster Award. I was actually more excited for her when reading her blog on receiving it (which is when I saw my nomination 🙂 ). She had titled it My First Blog Award! If you don’t think the awards matter to anyone, just read her excitement! I love it! ❤
I also love her blog. She is so encouraging with snippets and wisdom of God’s word. And with such sweet humor. I’m sorry it took so long, Little Miss Bear Paw, to get this up. I had a procedure earlier in the week. I’ve been eager to share your excitement, your answers, and your take on the award. Congrats on your Liebster, and thank you for giving me the chance to nominate more bloggers! God loves you! ❤

The instructions for accepting the award and passing it on are as follows:
1. Create a new blog post on your blog thanking the person that nominated you, link to their blog, and put in a graphic of the award;
2. Answer the questions that were provided, and share some facts about yourself;
3. Create a new set of your own questions for others to answer;
4. Nominate others (around 5 to 10) and share your blog post with them so they can accept their award.

My Questions to answer:
How did your blog get started?
As a private page to talk with God, make notes on reading His word, write some poetry. Doing a challenge with dearest Fatima of Splendor in Embers led me to opening my privacy settings, which led to another challenge with Lovely A of Discovering Your Happiness, and I’m just trying to follow the Lord from there. It’s His blog.
What is one thing you like to do besides blogging?
Puzzle Books… Word Games, Sudoku, Bible Crosswords, a large variety
What is your favorite story and why?
It’s hard to pick just one from the Bible, but I am in love with the one on Hannah and her praying to have a child, while being mocked by the other women. I may have been an unwed teen being mocked by other unwed teens who were already moms, but for whatever reason God allowed my baby boy who is now 29, Anthoni of Inner Man Theatre. I didn’t know the Bible yet then, else I would have probably named him Samuel. 😉
How do you turn that frown upside down on a less than a sunshiny day?
Singing hymns and spiritual songs! 🙂
What is your favorite song and why?
It’s too hard to pick one favorite. Instead I will share the song God gave me today. I’m having to let Him build the courage to sing the chorus. Stronger For It by Lordsong

Who is a hero that inspires you and why?
The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit… the Trinity. They each have played such lifesaving roles in my life, and continue to every single day! ❤
Do you have a New Year’s Resolution you’ve actually kept? If so what is it? (if the if so… is to personal feel free to skip this one)
The best New Year’s Resolution I ever made was the 1st year I resolved not to make one. It was completely eye opening and strengthening to do so. God can teach us many things!

Fun Facts About Myself:
I have played on a baseball team, been a cheerleader, been known as a water bug because of how much I love to swim, use to walk or run 5 miles a day, danced, loved marathons, played basketball, used to do flips, backbends, and one-handed cartwheels off the high dive. I miss every bit of it. However, I praise the Lord for allowing the doctors to help me stand, walk, sleep, and function enough to run errands.

My Nominees:
Chinese for Beginners
Aishwarya
Ashley C.
Pushup Mama
The Faithful Mommy
Reema’s Garden
A Poet’s Paradise
Here’s My Story
The Perks of Being Different
Brooklyn’s Corner

2. What is the theme for your blog?
3. How often do you blog?
4. How was your day?
5. Do you visit the WordPress Reader?
6. What was your last blog about?
7. Have you put anything on your About page?

Congratulations to the nominees! Remember you don’t have to participate. If you do, there’s no rush. I will be praying for each of you! I hope you’ll be encouraged to share the excitement of being nominated. Remember the person who nominated me had received her 1st Award! 🙂
Having said that… Congratulations again, Little Miss Bear Paw of Family by Faith!
Thank you again for the nomination! God loves you!

Telling It Like It Is

I write hard and I write cold.
I tell it just the way it is.
You can criticize me all you want.
Your dislike is not necessarily His.
Just because you fear or appall
what I have to say,
doesn’t mean I’ll put my pen down,
nor turn and walk away.
If you don’t like it,
don’t read it.
If you hate what you read,
you don’t need it.
But someone somewhere
knows exactly how I feel,
and there’s a world full of people
who love my being real.
God is the one who made the ink
that flows from this pen,
and the message was very clear,
“This shall be in print.”
So as you read and judge my work,
remember I am a part of His.
His command to me is not just to write,
but to tell it like it is.

This was written several years ago because there were some people who were tired of me writing about God all of the time, and there were some Christian friends who thought I was a little “too honest” with my testimony. I write what God gives me.

Eternally Puzzled and Amazed

God… my friend… a man I betray,
Yet His response is to lead the way.
Rejected, mocked, and abused so much,
God offers His forgiving and loving touch.
Defiled, plagued, and insulted at heart,
He refuses to allow sin to drive us apart.
Weak, pathetic, no backbone to believe,
God continues to vow to never leave.
Lost, confused, with no direction,
God comforts and guides with His protection.
Eternally puzzled and amazed by God,
I lay my soul in the love He’s got.

Pals and Buddies

Pals and buddies,
would that be us?
We do have a friendship
that is so tough.
Well we laugh and scream,
and playfully fight,
and whistle at the girls
whenever in sight.
Ball games and fishing,
T.V. and movies.
We do a lot of things
that are so groovy.
Five years from now
will be the time of our lives,
but I bet in ten
we will have wives.
Yet, even then,
we will still be a trip.
So let’s go to the movies
and let it rip.

PS. Charlie and Homey had me write this just for the fun of a challenge.
I miss my baby Brother. He’s been with Jesus now 10 years.

Having You

Having a little baby
is something I wanted to do.
Well, my unborn child,
I am having you.
I cannot wait to hold you
and sing a lullaby.
I long to ease your tears
when you come to cry.
And oh the day when you will walk,
will be a day of joy.
I want to hear the voice
of my little girl or boy.
Yet, the thrill that gets me most
is a day that you
will run into my arms and say,
“Mommy, I love you.”

9-24-89 Written by Gail Brookshire
(by the grace of God)
I wrote this for a dear friend who worked with my mom years ago.
She was in her late 40’s, praying to be married and have kids.
The Lord gave her a hubby and a baby on the way.
She asked me to write something to give her baby when grown.

At Your Grave

Beauty in a death of one,
I really loved so much.
Though I’ve been through a lot,
I’ve never hurt as such
A devastating time as this.
It’s really something new.
How can I come to deal with it,
If I don’t know what to do?
All the days we shared together,
All the smiles we gave,
I never knew there’d be a day
I’d stand here at your grave.

The Unborn Child

Within a darkened shelter
lies a helpless soul.
To survive the growing battle,
we must take control.
So small and fragile,
this future little heart.
We must prepare
for a fair and loving start.
What do we do
for this child unborn
when at the seams
we all are torn?
Within her womb
lies the seed,
but it is her body.
Would it help to plead?
It is her decision.
We will we ever know?
And will this soul
get the chance to grow?

7-7-1989 Written by Gail Brookshire
(by the grace of God)
I wrote this poem when I was a teenager with a best friend who had gotten pregnant to “snag” or “trap” the father (who happen to be a family member) into a relationship. When she conquered too easily and grew bored she was suddenly not pregnant any more. She had asked advice on “snagging” him  (which she ignored), and asked my advice on “taking care of her problem” (which she ignored). This upset me greatly because an innocent life was caught in the middle, and the father was hurt by it. She found satisfaction in that. For this EX-best friend, it was just another day. Sadly I have known this to happen several times when I was young.

As a matter of fact my situation was backwards in what I was seeing in the movies, at the health department, social services, and most places. At that time, pro-abortion was the subject of debate. Now while I was an also unwed teenage mom at the time, and I am pro-life this is NOT an attempt to argue, accuse, judge, or debate. It’s not even to stand up for myself. This was simply God breaking my heart for the unborn child that was supposed to be my family. All the female family and friends around me at that time had already had abortions of their own. I was constantly bullied into “keeping my opinion to myself.” My opinion was simply a loving encouragement… plea… to not use a baby as a weapon. Unfortunately, my voice did not matter.

O Child of God

O, child of God
He waits for you
to give you love
and eternal life too.
He aches to know
you suffer or hurt.
He longs to give you peace
within His holy word.
Please try Him out.
Give Him your soul.
He gave His life
to make you whole.
