Their Part

gaillovesgodspoetry

He’s so often judged to be unfair
and accused of not having a heart,
yet only God and His Son
were there the day they had to part.
Only they know the true loss
of being together
when Jesus left heaven for a moment
to give us forever.
Only they knew the longing
of being together again,
as Jesus grew and ministered
and drew closer to the end.
God and God alone
stood at His Son’s grave,
as He grieved for the Son
who had been so brave.
Now only God and His Son
can provide salvation.
We will all be together.
It will deserve celebration.

Trust Him With Everything

It has been just like God to bless me with the poetry He gives me to minister to me… not just from being the first to read it… but to remind me in times when I need it most! Thank You, Jesus! I love You!

gaillovesgodspoetry

If you’re gonna trust in the Lord, go all the way…
Trust Him with everything.
If you say you trust Him to look after you,
But keep doubting things you hope for,
Or things you know He expects of you and for you,
How can you say you trust Him?
That would really be more like saying,
“I trust You, Lord, but I’ll take care of the most important things.”
If you do not completely surrender your trust to Him,
Maybe you’re not trusting Him at all.
If you trust God to hear your prayers,
Meet your needs, and fulfill your life,
Then trust Him with what it takes to get it all done.
Give Him your soul, heart, mind, and body.
Give Him everything He has loaned to you.
If you know He’s all knowing and wise to protect,
Why would you doubt Him?
I know fear and uncertainty…

My Loved One’s Journey

gaillovesgodspoetry

Life that is waning, wasting away.
Nothing can be done to save the day.
A body betraying the soul within.
A spirit dying, just giving in.
Energy fading, abandoning the owner.
Depression conquering the weakened donor.
Words that fail and muscles that faint.
A ruthless trial for any saint.
Straining relationships, choking bonds,
stealing the will to carry on.
This is the journey my loved one is on,
and I must watch until they are gone.

A Leg in the Journey

gaillovesgodspoetry

LORD, this journey never seems to end.
Nothing ever seems to stop.
There is no break,
no pause,
no catching one’s breath.
Yet there is so much glory
for so many blessings
that seem hidden
in the fog.
Thank You for being on this journey
with me.
No one ever compares to You.
You’re the only one
who never leaves.
You’re the only one
who can’t,
or won’t.
I’ll take the reminder
of You
for my strength.

Dark Faith

gaillovesgodspoetry

What a wall of darkness
You present as my path.
I pause to pray,
“Is this guidance or wrath?”
Urged in Your peace,
I slowly go through.
I’m afraid of this scene,
but I want to follow You.
You tell me to trust Your hands
holding back the sea.
You provide a fire light at night,
and a cloud by day to shade me.
This won’t be a quick run.
This won’t be a mad dash.
This will be a journey of faith
just before our enemies clash.
Coming out of the waves,
I join You on Your shore.
I watch as my enemy
will be no more.
Closing the wall of darkness,
You throw my enemy in the depth.
While I am in Your arms,
he has met his death.

The Heathen’s Rage WILL Perish

gaillovesgodspoetry

The heathen rage
and rage so fierce,
throwing punches
and words that pierce.
Weapons that kill,
and actions that wound.
Lives and testimonies
are ruined.
Determined to destroy
everyone in their path.
Raging at life
and spewing their wrath.
Sometimes it feels like
only despair remains,
as though the righteous
are in the heathen’s chains.
Yet God in His word
is passionate to warn
not to covet
and not to join.
Judgement WILL come.
God’s wrath WILL prevail.
The heathen WILL perish
and be cast into hell.

Your Instruction, His Lesson

gaillovesgodspoetry

Off on a mountain top,
somewhere alone with You.
He is seeking Your wisdom
and Your guidance too.
He has forsaken all others
to enter Your presence.
He seeks Your instruction
to prepare His lesson.
His view is prepared
by Your majestic hand.
There is something in creation
that will cause him to understand.
Then at times, he’ll go inside
and You will shut the door.
There in the darkness
He will grow even more.
When You are ready
and deem he is too,
You will send him forth
to share more of You.

He Restoreth My Soul

Life can run so far away
with the sanity I need.
My traumatized nerves
begin to plead.
Yet one more thing rushes in
and threatens my cry.
Will my prayer be heard?
Will you pass me by?
“Of course not!”,
You lovingly chide.
“You know that I
am by your side.”
Your strong voice,
Your tender heart,
take me by the hand.
“We are never apart.”
My day washes away
and I become whole.
I am with my God.
He restoreth my soul.

A Pastor’s Love

A pastor’s love for his people.
A shepherd’s heart for his sheep.
He is so protective
With those he’s been given to keep.
A faithful prayer warrior.
A faithful attentive ear.
A servant ready to serve.
A friend who’s always near.
God’s man is always on duty.
He’s always on call.
Never leaving his flock,
Even when they fall.
Interceding for his fold.
Interacting with his people.
Strengthening the strong.
Carrying the feeble.

He Has Things All Planned Out

Our lives are planned out
by a God who has His own plans.
He doesn’t always tell us,
but He has us in His hands.
What we will accomplish
or what we will not,
whether it’s for ourselves
or what we desire for God,
is not always the same
as what He desires.
But trusting and obeying
are what He admires.
And what we pass on
or desire for our children
may not be the same
as how God will build them.
Yet they, too, have a plan
that God has personally designed
to love God
with all of their heart, soul, and mind.
Dear God in heaven,
as You plan my day
please make sure it includes You
in every way.

You Carry Me

gaillovesgodspoetry

Drawn to everything about You,
I seek to read Your word.
I listen for everything about You.
I cherish all I’ve heard.
Taking You with me inside,
I venture back into life.
I am trusting every promise
To see me through my strife.
Through each challenge arising,
I see You in every way.
You are carrying me
Through each and every day.
As the evening approaches
And the night settles in,
I have found I made it
Carrying You within.
As I lay my head down
And close my eyes to the night,
I trust in the rest You send.
Sweet dreams and goodnight.

Striving Among the Strife

gaillovesgodspoetry

Striving for You
in a world striving against You,
in a world striving against anyone
who strives for You.
Striving to love one another
in a world that doesn’t love You,
yet You loved them anyway,
and still do.
Striving to obey Your law
by obeying the law of man,
when their law goes against You
and all who would dare to stand.
Striving for peace
in a world filled with hate.
Their love confuses them
because Yours is up for debate.
Trusting in Your will
when Your will is not ours,
when evil seems to be given
unthinkable powers.
To doubt or fear
is to judge You in haste.
There is not a moment of life
that You waste.

Selfishly Faithful

gaillovesgodspoetry

How selfish am I
while I think I’m so thoughtful?
How greedy am I
when I think I am so giving?
How wicked am I
when I think I am so Holy?
Just because I read Your Word,
maybe faithfully,
maybe sporadically,
does that make me heroic?
Does it even make me obedient?
Does it make me hypocritical?
How precious is Your Word.
How precious is Your time.
How precious is Your whisper.
Yet I take each for granted.
How privileged must I think You are
to have me read Your Word,
to spare my time,
to be a good steward
of that which You bless me with.
Lord, make me truly grateful,
make me faithful,
make me Holy,
according to Your standards.

On Duty

gaillovesgodspoetry

Out in those battlefields
are soldiers for Your cause.
So many are scattered
to carry their cross.
Whether in an actual military
or on a “field” trip,
they are reaching the lost
among the fellowship.
telling their story
by telling Yours,
while praying for You
to open hearts and doors.
Joy in the crowns
they gain for You,
to be laid at Your feet,
and celebrated too.
Be with Your soldiers
wherever they are.
Help them fight Your battle
and win Your war.

Lost Testimony

gaillovesgodspoetry

Years of ministry, marriage, and testimony
gone in a heated moment.
Years of discipline and faithfulness
completely stolen.
Stolen from a loving Savior
who will forgive even this transgressor,
yet it will be thrown in His face
by the aggressor.
Oh moments of guilt and shame
do occasion,
but they are always trumped
by persistent temptation.
How hard for those
who drew from their strength
to witness the weakness,
near or at length.
Yet how devastating
for a Savior who died
to now live and wait
for those who have defied.
