My Proverbs Journal (Chapter 15)

THANKS GOD FOR THE MOMENTS! I LOVE YOU!

Proverbs, Chapter 15 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Lord, How are You today? I’m sorry I don’t ask You as I use to? I do genuinely care about that answer. You may be God, but I do care how Your day is, how Your children make You feel, and genuinely care how You are. I know You are well, but I know Your heart is probably broken all day long over the sin You see in the world, the cruelty to one another, the violence and suffering of Your children, the millions of death caused in the wombs all day long, and the many I cannot even think of but that You see every second. I know You care. I hope You know I care, and pray that You help me to care anywhere You see me carelessly overlooking.

I’m sorry for the pettiness against a loved one today. Yes I have been in pain, discomfort, shame, bewilderment, discouraged, and very humiliated the last few days, but it is still no excuse to cause someone else hurt, nor to excuse myself for behavior that is displeasing to You, and goes against the very word You give me in Proverbs 15.

I failed to turn away my wrath with a soft answer, to wisely use my tongue to use knowledge aright. I know Your eyes beheld everything, and saw the good and evil. I did not use my tongue in wholesomeness as a tree of life. Instead I allowed a bad attitude to cause a breach in my spirit, and in the one of Your children. My lips did not wisely dispense knowledge.

My prayers for that loved one should have been sooner, and I would have the peace of being Your delight, not an abomination. Help me to follow righteousness, and not to forsake correction.

“A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.”
(verse 13)

I’m trying to seek Your knowledge in doing this devotion. I want to feed on Your instruction. I want that continual feast.

“Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.”
(verse 17)

Help me not to stirreth up strife., but to be slow to anger. Help me not to be slothful, but righteousness.

“A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.”
(verse 20)

A wise son maketh a glad father… a wise daughter does too! Help me to make You glad, Heavenly Father. Keep me from being foolish! Help me to walk uprightly.

“Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.”
(verse 22)

Help me to follow all counsel that You give me through the counsel of others. Help me to have joy by the answer of my mouth, to speak that word, to speak that word in due season that is good. Help my words to be pleasant. Help me to keep studying to answer, to pray, to hear the reproof, to hear Your instruction, to get understanding, and above all else to fear You. I love You!

Proverbs, Chapter 14 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Lord, Father God, again today, my day started ahead of me. I “think” I remember at least reading my Proverbs devotion for the day, but just did not get to note. But I honestly can’t remember. And that bothers me.

You were so merciful to me yesterday. So loving in so many ways. And the provisions, the kindnesses the grace, the graciousness, and the many acts of love and compassion through my family. How could I possibly thank You enough?

Especially regarding getting so easily angry yesterday. It was so unfair of me. I tried to not let it get the best of me when You were warning me, and lovingly so. However small it may have seemed in that moment, I could see it caused hurt, shame, and guilt where it did not belong. As I saw the stress began to build I tried to be obedient in relieving that false guilt, but regardless of my trying to make it right again, I know I was still in the wrong to let even a moment get the best of me. Regardless of how incredibly physically challenged I was, or even the mind games that can play into the anger. Any time You warn us about our anger, even when someone is wronging us, to disobey… is to disobey… and it’s disobeying You!

How fitting Proverbs 14 was today. Help me to be that wise woman who builds her house, not that plucketh it down with her own hands (or her own words). Help me to walk upright, to wisely preserve my lips, to find that wisdom and knowledge of the One that understandeth. Help me to understand my way, to find Your favor, for my heart to know its own bitterness.

Help me to flourish, and keep me from the way that “seems right to me” and to “look well to my going.” Help me to wisely fear and depart from evil. Help me not to be soon angry and dealing foolishly.

Help me to have that strong confidence in fearing You so that I will have that place of refuge in You, and that fountain of life.

“He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.”
(verse 29)

I want the sound heart that is the life of the flesh, not the rottenness of the bones. I want wisdom to rest in my heart, and understanding to prepare room for that wisdom.

“The king’s favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.”
(verse 35)

Help me to be that wise servant that never causes You shame.

I love You, Father God!
I love You, Jesus!
I love You, Holy Spirit!

Proverbs, Chapter 13 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Lord, this day was hard. I did note get to read and note before I ran “that errand” and “that incident” that made this day the unforgettable day that it was. I blame myself because there is ALWAYS room to work on being diligent, and to better discipline ourselves to present those things that distract us or to at least find ways to be prepared to be ahead of the distraction.

I know too that not all moments of distractions are our fault, nor are they meant to be accusation toward us. I honestly believe today was one of those days that You used to speak to me through Your word after the day occurred, to make Your word more emphasized.

In short, the day started off great. A day You seemed to have planned for me. Plans I would have not thought of, and became scary and nerve wracking to think on, and even more frightening as I began to embrace just following Your plans. Yet I began to smile too. More and more I feel freer and at such peace. I was delightfully surprised. I sensed Your presence so strong. It felt good. It felt right. Yes it did feel so scary for things to feel good and right, but my trust was in You! Not me, nor my feelings.

Then the day turned horrible, or so my circumstances tried to convince. The circumstances were horrible. They were devastating, in such a way that I cannot write about it out loud. But it did not mean that what You gave me was now bad. You were still good. You ARE still good!! You will ALWAYS be good.

So then in getting to finally sit and read later in the day, the first words I see are, “A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.” As I’m reading aloud, I immediately hear my words, pause, and say to You, “A wise daughter too. My circumstances were not Your fault in any way. It was Your unwise daughter who carelessly wasted Your wisdom many times. It wasn’t something sinful, it wasn’t anything biblical at all. But the many provisions You kept providing as answered prayer went unheeded. I wasn’t trying to be stubborn. It was that careless side we’ve been discussing where my brain seems to lock me down in fear. But that fear clearly became careless and stubborn, despite my good intentions, or that I convinced myself were good. I had been “the well advised,” but my false hope deferred made me sick.

Had I “feared the commandment You gave I would have been rewarded.” Good understanding would have given me favor. Being a faithful ambassador would have been my health. But shame was my reward, as Your word warned. Help me to continue walking with that wise man who is You. Thank You for not sparing Your rod. Thank You for loving me enough to chasten me.

Proverbs, Chapter 12 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Lord, I love Your instruction. Help my spirit on those days that I somehow seem to resist that I may obtain Your favor. Not for some selfish gain, but I will be prepared when wicked devices come at me, some from my own soul. I want to be established by wickedness. Help me to be a virtuous woman for Your name’s sake, to be YOUR Crown. Help me to be the servant You hope of me.

Help me to be full of tender mercies, to do the work You have for me, and to be rooted in Your righteousness. Keep me from snares, from trouble, and from foolish counsel. Help me to be prudent, hard working, diligent, disciplined, truthful, healthy, encouraging, wise and mindfully careful with my words. Keep me from lies, deception, and evil. Help me to seek peace, counsel, justice, honest dealings, and to use good and glad words. Help me to choose all that You call good, and to avoid all that You call unwise, evil, and foolish. Help me to be all that You delight in, and to be grounded in Your word that I might obtain the favor that places Your hedge of protection around me.

I love You, Father!
I love You, Jesus!
I love You, Holy Spirit!

Your word in Proverbs 12 inspired me to write this poem, Lord.
It is called The Promises of Your Favor. I love anything You love to give! If it’s from You, it’s a promise kept!

The Promises of Your Favor

The promises of Your favor
Are life and preservation to my soul.
You promise they will lead me,
And keep my words good and whole.
You promise they will protect,
That they will ground and root.
You promise they will preserve
And steady my foot.
You promise wisdom and counsel
Will establish and prepare.
My spirit will be ready
No matter when or where.
Your peace and Your favor
Wait to guard and guide.
Rooted and grounded in You,
Is where my soul longs to abide.

Proverbs, Chapter 11 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Lord, Help me not to be false nor unbalanced, but to be Your delightful just weight. Help me to avoid being filled with pride or shame, but instead to be lowly, wise, and filled with integrity. Perverseness surely does destroy and is so deceptive to the one who embraces it. Let righteousness delivereth me from such death, and direct my way. I don’t want to be taken in my own naughtiness., nor cause my hope to perish.

I prefer for righteousness to deliver me out of trouble. I want it to go well, to be blessed, and filled with wisdom, and for Your understanding to bring me peace.

Help me not to reveal secrets, nor known as a talebearer, but a faithful spirit. Help me to seek Godly counsel, but being a surety for anyone. I need to be sure. Help me to be gracious and filled with honor, and be strong. Help me to be merciful and good to my own soul. Help me to tend to life, and to be upright, and discreet.

Help me to diligently seek good, to flourish, to be wise of heart, to bear righteous fruit, to win souls, and to never take for granted Your Holy Word.

I love You and thank You for Your instruction. Help me to heed, to discern, and to apply. Thank You for being patient with me! Thank You for being a God who send loving instructions as a way to teach, guide, protect, warn, and renew.

Thank You for loving us just the way we are, but also loving us enough not to leave us that way! Help us to cling to You and Your Word!

I love You, Lord!
I love You, Jesus!
I love You, Holy Spirit!

Your word in Proverbs 11 inspired me to write this poem, Lord. It is called Righteousness, You Are A Friend… because You tell me that’s what Righteousness is to me. Any friend of Yours is a friend of mine!

Righteousness, You Are A Friend Of Mine!

Righteousness, you are a friend of mind.
One God says will protect me.
He says you’ll lead me and keep me,
And show me how to be His delight.
He says you know the way to life,
And how to avoid destruction.
He says you bring me integrity,
Peace, and cause me to flourish.
He says you help me make Him smile,
To be a faithful spirit,
And to walk in His way.
All these things cause God to speak so highly of you.
He speaks of favor when He speaks of you.
He tells me I am wise to follow you.
So here I am, Righteousness.
Make me, too, my Father’s delight.
I long to make Him smile.
I love Him.

My Proverbs Journal (Chapter 10)

THANKS GOD FOR THE MOMENTS! I LOVE YOU!

Proverbs, Chapter 10 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Lord, this chapter of Proverbs is loaded with instruction from wisdom. So much of it can seem confusing and argumentative. How foolish to think our human minds can judge the wisdom of God of the universe. There is so much we do not understand with our limited knowledge and flawed experiences. Especially when we are in a constant need to call ourselves good, and are offended, even hurt to think of ourselves as evil, weak, or flawed. But until we can be honest with ourselves, we can’t begin to know wisdom. And we certainly have NO right to question You!

Thank You for trusting us with Your word, Your wisdom, Your instruction, despite our frail and flawed frame. Thank You for loving us enough to want us to have knowledge, wisdom, truth, understanding, instead of walking around with blinders on just to be some kind of super god. You are a Super and Powerful God… who loves, who saves, who forgives, who teaches, who actually suffers for Your subjects.

You allow Yourself to feel pain to save us from death. You allow Yourself to experience death to save us from eternal life in hell. You loved us too much to want heaven to be without us. You Love! And You love us! ❤

Thank You, Father! We love You too!

❤ I love You, Father God!
❤ I love You, Jesus!
❤ I love You, Holy Ghost!

Your word in Proverbs 10 inspired me to write this poem, Lord. It is called A God Who Loves Me… because that is Who You are… and what You do!

A God Who Loves Me!

A God who loves me, despite how I can be.
Who gave me wisdom to help me see.
Who sent instruction to rescue me,
To save me from lies that only deceive.
A God who loves me despite my lack.
He’s willing to give, so I can give back.
He knows my nature, and still He gives.
He tasted of death so that I could live.
A God who loves me, and lets me love Him back.
How grateful I am for that fact.

Proverbs, Chapter 9 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Lord, if I understand correctly, in the first few verses wisdom is crying out to warn of the foolish woman. Wisdom if pleading for us to lodge with her to protect us from the evil woman who can so easily cry out herself with lies of persuasion to lead us astray, and to lower our guard to ever so deceitfully lead us to our death.

Help me to hear wisdom when she is trying to cry out to me, to warn me, to give me shelter from evil that is also trying to cry out to me. Keep me from evil persuasions. Keep me from “sweet lies” (It reminds me of friends from the past in this chapter). Thank You for keeping me from them, and for helping me to hear Your wisdom.

Thank You, God, that Your wisdom is more powerful than past persuasions that made and shaped our thinking, that molded our character… until it met YOU!! And learned of Your magnificent Love! ❤ Thank You that Your wisdom, understanding, and knowledge can renew, restore, rebuild, revive, reconcile, and remake me! Remake my thoughts! Remake my heart! Remake my spirit!

Thank You, Father God! Thank You!

Proverbs, Chapter 8 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Wow, Father! Wisdom wrote me a letter! :0 We all look and seek for wisdom, and she wrote us a letter! 🙂 It’s awesome that she states she was with you before the world began, and that she was thinking of us. Wisdom was thinking of me before I was even born.I didn’t even know wisdom knew me.

But then again, without Your word, I would not even know wisdom was someone I could specifically seek out to talk with. Nor understanding. Nor knowledge. YOU are my wisdom to find and seek wisdom.

Help me to hear her instruction, and to be wise enough not to refuse her. Help me to be blessed from hearing her, and watching at her gates daily, and waiting at the posts of her doors. Help me to find life in her, and favor in You. Help me not to sin against my own soul by sinning against her. Help me to love her, and to hate death.

I want to hear of her excellent things and her right things. I want to hear her truth, her righteousness, and to hate evil as she does. I want to hear her plainly! I want to receive her instruction and knowledge. I know she is right. I know how valuable and precious she is.

Thank You that she tells me what the fear of the Lord is. I need to know You hate evil, pride, arrogancy, and a froward mouth. I love her counsel and sound wisdom. I love the strength that understanding is. Thank You that she loves me too. Thank You for the letter she wrote me. Thank You for keeping Your promise in allowing me to find her. Help me to never stop seeking her, to always listen to her instruction.

Proverbs, Chapter 7 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Lord, You tell me to call wisdom my sister, and understanding my kinswoman. You tell me she will keep me from the flattering of evil, and from the flattering of evil words.

That’s a powerful and true statement. Evil can appear flattering. Evil can sound flattering. When we do not flee the simple hint of that flattering, we can forfeit our souls, our bodies, and even our lives. Others can mock. but they are either smitten with that flattering themselves. or they are the face of flattery. Their voice is that deceptive flattery.

We need our sister wisdom, and our kinswoman understanding to reveal all flatteries. We need You to help us resist and stay strong. Help us to remember, to believe, and to obey wise understanding.

Your word in Proverbs 7 inspired 2 poems this time, Lord. The first one is called A Wise, Understanding Family because of Your urging to make wisdom and understanding family. The second one is called Walking Through Your Pages because I love walking through the pages of Your Holy word… but especially TOGETHER! Your Holy word with you is just… 😦

A Wise, Understanding Family

Wisdom, you are my sister.
God has said we’re family.
I am to trust Your words.
I am to trust Your whispers.
I am to heed Your shoutings.
I am to seek and trust You.

Understanding,
You are my kinswoman.
I am to follow your lead.
I am to trust you to keep me.
I am to accept you as family.
Because in God’s eyes
You are! ❤

Wise Understanding,
Oh how I need You,
to keep me from flattery,
to keep me from self-destruction,
to keep me from falling into a snare,
bound for hell.

Lord, I seek. I call on.
And I trust through Your faith
in wisdom, understanding.
We are all one family.
Your family.

Walking Through Your Pages

Walking through your pages, I see
Why God says to trust you and call you family.
You bring wisdom.
You bring knowledge.
You bring understanding.
You bring so much more than I could imagine.
How powerful is your influence.
How influential is your power.
You reveal, expose, and unveil
All that has evil intention against.
Flattery doesn’t get past you.
Help me to walk with you as often as God allows.
Help me to pay attention… and listen.
Help me to always trust what God gives you for me.
Help me to always trust your best for me.

Proverbs, Chapter 6 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Lord, We are to be careful what we vow or promise to others. Being a surety for someone is being a cosigner, or someone’s collateral. If we promise to pay something, we should keep the vow.

You do allow us to go and be honest with the one we promised, honest about not being able. But we are to honor what they decide. If they provide mercy, it is Your mercy. If they demand the vow to be kept, we are to do so to honor You. It will help us to learn. You also tell us when we commit a whoredom or adultery with someone that we are damaging our own souls. You warn us of the fury of vengeance.

Help me to be careful with my tongue, my word, my testimony, and my commitments. Help me to be good to my own soul. It belongs to You!

Your word in Proverbs 6 inspired this poem, Lord. It’s called Adultery Is Sure Jealousy.

Adultery Is Sure Jealousy

Surety, you are no friend.
You know my God does not want me to entertain you.
You know He warns against you.
You know you’re putting chains on me
If I were to give thought to you,
Or speak on your behalf.
No one can speak for you.
Only God can say,
“Have nothing to do with her.
Plead for release from her.
But if she insists the debt be paid,
PAY IT!
BE DONE WITH HER!
THEN LEAVE HER ALONE!”
Jealousy is your friend.
She tries to flatter me.
She tries to convince me that “he” is worth it too.
After all, a woman’s jealousy is so much well known that
She is referenced for “her fury.”
No Surety. No Adultery. No Jealousy.
Only God! Only His wisdom!

Proverbs, Chapter 5 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Lord, how You warn us of deception, folly, flattering eyes, and evil’s many seductive ways. You tell us to cling to discretion and the path of life. I thank You for the many discretions You’ve brought me through. You have saved me from the folly of the world, and the folly of self.

Your words of wisdom are treasures to me. Help me to stay in them, and to choose that discretion… to choose You. Again and again and again.

❤ I love You, Lord!
❤ I love You, Jesus!
❤ I love You, Holy Ghost!

Your word in Proverbs 5 inspired this poem, Lord. It’s called Discretion, A Mutual Friend because You tell me to pursuing wisdom and understanding will give me a regard for discretion, which will give my lips knowledge! Oh how often I pray for wisdom on what to say, and how to avoid things I wish I could avoid saying before they have left my mouth! So this is my letter to Discretion! ❤

Discretion, A Mutual Friend

Discretion,
You and I have been friends many times over.
I thank God for being our mutual friend.
He is wise to tell me to choose you.
He tells me that to choose you is to choose wisdom.
Thank you for being a faithful companion.
Thank you for helping me keep my mind on Him.
Thank you for helping to escape my folly.
Thank you for clarifying what I can and cannot trust.
Thank you for not wanting to make a mockery of me,
For not shaming me in my own guilt, as I so rightly deserve.
Thank you for preserving me for Him.
Thank you for teaching me what’s right.
Thank you for helping me to honor our mutual friend. ❤

Proverbs, Chapter 4 (Click here to read for better understanding of the connection between the scripture and the notes they inspired below.)

Father, help me to hear Your instruction, and attend to know understanding. I know Your law and Your doctrine are good. You are tender and beloved. Help my heart to retain Your words and keep Your commandments. Help me to get wisdom, and understanding, and not to forget them. Help me to never decline Your words. I know You love me, preserve me, and keep me.

You tell me wisdom is the principal thing, and the understanding that comes with her. I am to exalt her, to embrace her, to receive her grace and her glory, and to allow her to deliver me.

All these things You used to teach me, lead me, and helped me to receive all that You wanted for me.
Verses 23-25 You used to teach me to guard my heart with diligence, to watch what I say, to put away perverseness, and to look evil, life, and people straight on. You taught me to look on each step I took.

How You established my steps, my life, my mind, and my heart in Your love and ways.

I will always be grateful for Your love and instruction in my life. I may be distracted with being human sometimes, but I am fully trusting in Your word, and Your promises.

They have been my wisdom, my knowledge, and my understanding. There’s nothing to compare. You and Your word are so invaluable to me. I treasure You both.

❤ I love You, Father!
❤ I love You, Holy Spirit!
❤ I love You, Sweet Jesus!

Your word in Proverbs 4 inspired this poem, Lord. It’s called Let’s Pursue One Another because You tell me to pursue wisdom. So it is my message to her! ❤

Let’s Pursue One Another

Wisdom, let’s pursue one another.
I need your instruction,
and you need my obedience.
I need your knowledge
and you need my heart.
I need your understanding,
and you need me to attend.
I need you to establish me,
and you need me to exalt you.
I need you to preserve me,
and you need me to keep you.
I need you to lead my paths.
You need to me to keep looking straight ahead.
I need your grace and glory,
you need me to honor God’s word.
His promises mean so much to me,
and you means so much to Him.
He tells me so much about you,
and promises so much value.
Help me to receive the good
in trusting His word.
Help me to honor Him
in trusting You.
Wisdom, Knowledge, Understanding,
Let’s pursue one another.

You are! ❤

Wise understanding,
Oh how I need you,
To keep me from flattery,
To keep me from self destruction,
To keep me from falling into a snare,
Bound for hell.

Lord, I seek. I call on.
And I trust through your faith
In wisdom, understanding.
We are all one family.
Your family.

Adultery Is Sure Jealousy

gaillovesgodspoetry

Surety, you are no friend.
You know my God does not want
Me to entertain you.
You know He warns against you.
You know you’re putting chains on me
If I were to give thought to you,
Or speak on your behalf.
No one can speak for you.
Only God can say,
“Have nothing to do with her.
Plead release from her,
But if she insists the debt be paid,
PAY IT!
BE DONE WITH HER!
THEN LEAVE HER ALONE!”
Jealousy is your friend.
She tries to flatter me.
She tries to convince me that
“He” is worth it too.
After all, a woman’s jealousy is
So much well known that she is
Referred for “her fury.”
No Surety. No Adultery. No Jealousy.
Only God! Only His wisdom!
