Comfort Ye My People

“Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her,
that her warfare is accomplished,
that her iniquity is pardoned:
for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.”
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness,
prepare ye the way of the Lord,
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be exalted,
and every mountain and hill shall be made low:
and the crooked shall be made straight,
and the rough places plain: and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
and all flesh shall see it together:
for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.”
– Isaiah 40:1-5 KJV

Father, as I read today, I sense You telling me my warfare is accomplished in areas of my life that was a warfare… my childhood, my teen years, and as a young adult. You comfort me with assurance that my iniquity is pardoned, that I have received from Your own hand double for all of my sins. You tell me that Your glory shall be revealed in the testimony of that warfare, and that all flesh shall see it together through the writing You have gifted me with because You have spoken it, and will continue to speak it through me and for me, to those You choose to witness. You know who those souls are better than me.

My tendency to struggle with confidence and the terror of speaking out loud to others, especially in a crowd, and even more so to strangers can get in the way. But You urge me to comfort Your people, to speak comfortably, and to cry (plead) unto to them to hear how much You love them.  You know just where to persuade me. You are the One who gave me a spirit that hates to see anyone hurt. You were the One who taught my spirit to mourn with them in silence when needed, to speak in comfort when they are hurting too much not to, and when to cry out in my own pain to You with my pen, and to share it as a testimony.

You are the One who uses it from there. Even if all it does is openly praise You, and tells the world how much I love You, in the good and the bad, when it’s easy and hard, is more than enough reason to pour the ink, or hit the computer key, whether in poetry or blogging. May You be glorified in all of Your majestic ways, and in what may seem like petty whining to me sometimes, but You assure it’s all a part of of the warfare You allow for me.

You have designed my battle cry that You may be seen as the Lord of Hosts, the Lord of Armies. He who is Faithful and True comes riding in on His white horse to make war on my behalf, and to exercise fierceness and wrath on my behalf, and for those who are in the middle of their own warfare. Some need to know You have already done so, and made their warfare accomplished, and that their iniquity is pardoned.

Give me courage, Lord, to know the testimony You have given me WILL reveal Your glory. Help me to conquer those constant foes of mine… fear and doubt. Help me to lift my pen in the same way You lift Your sword on my behalf! May You be seen by as many as You want! ❤

And I pray for Alaska. Verse 4 reminds me of the terrible 7.0 earthquake they have just suffered. I pray for all those missionaries from our church as well. Hear their cry, Father. They need You. I know You are with them. Help them to feel You, to know You are present. How horrified and defeated some must feel. Help them with their current warfare. It is a fierce one, but You are mightier than all of Your enemies, and You are the Father of compassion. I love You! Your Son! And Your precious Holy Spirit! ❤ Thank You for being so personal in Your word.

“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the kid;
and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
and a little child shall lead them.
And the cow and the bear shall feed;
their young ones shall lie down together:
and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp,
and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den.
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain:
for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord,
as the waters cover the sea.
And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse,
which shall stand for an ensign of the people;
to it shall the Gentiles seek:
and his rest shall be glorious.”
– Isaiah 11:6-10 KJV

What a glorious world to look forward to, Lord.  Your coming kingdom would make a lot of sense with animals being good and living peacefully. Maybe on the new earth? You are the One who had this written in Your word… for us to know and think on… to find peace in it. And how absolutely jaw dropping for the whole earth to be full of the knowledge of You! As the waters cover the sea! 🙂 Only You could give glorious rest! ❤ Perfect peace! ❤

Quick Understanding

“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse,
and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
and the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,
the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel and might,
the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
and shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord:
and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes,
neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
but with righteousness shall he judge the poor,
and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth:
and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth,
and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins,
and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.”
– Isaiah 11:1-5 KJV

Wow! Father, You made Jesus to know and personally experience thefear of the Lord, which made Him of quick understanding.” You do tell us to fear You is the beginning of wisdom, and understanding. Wow! Quick understanding. ❤

Jesus, that just makes You even more like no one else!

❤ I love You and our Father! ❤

Obedience Is Trusting You

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:
and the government shall be upon his shoulder:
and his name shall be called
Wonderful,
Counsellor,
The mighty God,
The everlasting Father,
The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace
there shall be no end, upon the throne of David,
and upon his kingdom, to order it,
and to establish it with judgment and with justice
from henceforth even for ever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”
– Isaiah 9:6-7 KJV

You were a child, Jesus… Mary and Joseph’s little son. You had so much that would be upon Your shoulders in the future, but You were young once toovulnerable… at the mercy of others. Your Heavenly Father was wise to seek out Mary, not because she was special but because she was obedient. You made her special, and God said she would be blessed among women because of her obedience.

Joseph was chosen too because God knew that even though Joseph was hurt and felt betrayed by Mary to find out she was pregnant while they were engaged, that Joseph would listen to Him. Joseph was obedient. Yes God came to him in a  dream, but that’s the thing.

If we are in fellowship with God, He will come to us in our deepest hurts to minister to us. Maybe not in a dream (but maybe), maybe not in an actual voice (though anything is possible with God), but we will know when it is God, and we will know it is His message for us. Even if it’s just to say, “I know you are in heartbreaking pain, and I do care.”

God knew Joseph would trust Him if Joseph knew it was God bringing this burden to him. It was a burden that Joseph had no idea would be a risk worth taking. It would save his own soul. Can you imagine being asked of God to take care of His Son?

I have a small inkling as a single mom who raised her only son in the Lord as best as she knew how from day one. While I am no Mary, my greatest desire was giving my son back to the Lord, and obedience to God’s word was all I knew. At first the only bible I had was what other’s taught me. But then God led me through His love letter.

Yes, God knows what I went through. Jesus, You know what I went through. And the Holy Spirit knows. Together You have helped me to raise my child… my son given to me from God (His Father)!

Today, You also emphasized not giving up. You were using the example of Elijah and Elisha. C.T. was preaching on 1 Kings 19, and emphasized verse 4… when Elijah told You “It is enough.” You encouraged him not to give up. If Elijah had given up, he would not have encouraged Elisha. Elisha would not have received the double portion, or seen the horses and chariots of fire (2 Kings 6:17).

**GASP**

I have long loved that passage. You constantly bring those horses and chariots of fire all over my hills in my neighborhood, or wherever I am. How sad if Elisha had not seen them, and You had not written about Elijah and Elisha for me! I never want to stop seeing them! 😦

You have laid on my heart to take with me today the hymn..

Only Trust Him
hymn lyrics by John H. Stockton

Come, every soul by sin oppressed,
there’s mercy with the Lord,
and He will surely give you rest
by trusting in His word.

CHORUS
Only trust Him, only trust Him,
only trust Him now;
He will save you, He will save you.
He will save you now.

For Jesus shed His precious blood
rich blessings to bestow;
plunge now into the crimson flood
that washes white as snow.

CHORUS

Yes, Jesus is the truth, the way,
that leads you into rest;
believe in Him without delay,
and you are fully blest.

CHORUS

Come, then, and join this holy band,
and on to glory go,
to dwell in that celestial land
where joys immortal flow.

CHORUS

I may often wonder how You could ever use me, even when You lay certain hurting ones on my mind, but regardless of my feeling inadequate, You WILL use whom You will use. I don’t want to keep them from seeing the horses and chariots of fire!

KNOWLEDGE to Know

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign;
Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son,
and shall call his name Immanuel.
Butter and honey shall he eat,
that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good,
the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.
The Lord shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people,
and upon thy father’s house,
days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah;
even the king of Assyria.”
– Isaiah 7:14-17 KJV

This passage amazes me! You, Jesus, gave up even the knowledge to know to refuse evil, and choose good. And the fact that things happened in the land where You grew up before You learned to know, let’s me know You allowed Yourself to be completely at the mercy of Your authority figures and society too. You do understand far more than I give You credit for. And butter and honey, what’s so special about them? I thought butter was bad for us? It must be one of those moderation things. 😉

Your Anthem

I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel:
my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
I have set the Lord always before me:
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth:
my flesh also shall rest in hope.
For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell;
neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Thou wilt shew me the path of life:
in thy presence is fulness of joy;
at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
– Psalm 16:7-11 KJV

These verses gave me empowerment last night, Lord
I was so on fire in my spirit when I heard them.
Despite being in a pit, You gave me Your anthem,
declaring it’s Not the pit of the enemy!
And even if it were… even THERE
You are with me.

I have nothing to fear.
Not even disappointment from You
when I find myself surrounded by damning spirits!

Lord, I pray you would allow others
to feel that same empowerment…
YOUR EMPOWERMENT…
no matter where they are!

God loves you!
And fights for you!

A Gift of Time

gaillovesgodspoetry

No greater gift can someone give
Than the gift of their time…
Their presence…
To talk…
Or just to be there.
What love You give us…
That You want from us!
Of course the greatest gift
Of life on the cross
Is still the greatest gift ever given
By our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Talk about a gift of time…
Presence…
And just being there.

Emphasized Treasure

gaillovesgodspoetry

Lord, today You have emphasized treasure
That You are…
That You share…
That You hide…
That You openly display…
And that You so lovingly want for us.
Help me to see,
To find,
To enjoy,
To appreciate,
To thank You for,
To share,
And to treasure
You and ALL of Your treasures.
You tell us there is richness
In full assurance of understanding.
May I grow more and more
Every day in understanding
And wisdom and knowledge,
That I may know,
And know I know!
I love You, Lord!

The Heathen’s Rage WILL Perish

gaillovesgodspoetry

The heathen rage
and rage so fierce,
throwing punches
and words that pierce.
Weapons that kill,
and actions that wound.
Lives and testimonies
are ruined.
Determined to destroy
everyone in their path.
Raging at life
and spewing their wrath.
Sometimes it feels like
only despair remains,
as though the righteous
are in the heathen’s chains.
Yet God in His word
is passionate to warn
not to covet
and not to join.
Judgement WILL come.
God’s wrath WILL prevail.
The heathen WILL perish
and be cast into hell.

Your Instruction, His Lesson

gaillovesgodspoetry

Off on a mountain top,
somewhere alone with You.
He is seeking Your wisdom
and Your guidance too.
He has forsaken all others
to enter Your presence.
He seeks Your instruction
to prepare His lesson.
His view is prepared
by Your majestic hand.
There is something in creation
that will cause him to understand.
Then at times, he’ll go inside
and You will shut the door.
There in the darkness
He will grow even more.
When You are ready
and deem he is too,
You will send him forth
to share more of You.

Christmas 31 Day Scripture Writing Plan

Lord, thank You for reminding me of this Christmas 31 Day Scripture Writing Plan. You introduced me to it a few years back when I first did it, with other ladies from my church and friends online as well. I came into it a couple of days late, but You were the one who encouraged me to just focus on what You allowed me to do. You used Facebook memories to remind me at a time we are between reading plans, I am behind on my copying behind the bible (I’m just going into Joshua), and am really struggling with energy each day. This way I have a better hope of keeping You first each morning. Even if I don’t get a chance to write one morning, I can read until I can get a chance to catch up. The important thing is to spend what time You allow. I look forward to You!

Open thou mine eyes,
that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
– Psalm 119:18 KJV
